22: Four Truths about Every Man with Dr. Mike Chrasta

Jeff Jerina • April 3, 2018

Jeff Jerina interviews a close personal friend and co-ministry leader, Dr. Mike Chrasta on the Men Unplugged show. Jeff and Mike discuss the four truths of every man and how to experience true freedom.  There are many things that God calls us to do.  The most important thing as a man is to know his true design, his true calling.  When a man finds his true calling he is a dangerous man.  Dangerous in a good sense.

Every man has 4 things that define who he is.

A quick discussion on how Mike and Jeff found their true purpose in life.

A quick talk about Mike’s book, Make it a Place of Springs which you can get through the MenUnplugged.net website here.

Jeff noted that for him it took taking different tests, spiritual gifts testing asking others and a lot of prayer.   To get Jeff’s book, Ten Steps to Power and Purpose that gives you simple, practical steps to discover and live your true calling in life go to MenUnplugged.net.

Men have a role in creating a vibrant culture in Christian education.

Try to follow wholeheartedly what God is leading you to do.

There are many things that God calls us to do.  The most important thing as a man is to know his true design, his true calling.  When a man finds his true calling he is a dangerous man.  Dangerous in a good sense.

Psalm 84:6-7 why this Scripture is so important to Mike Chrasta.

God tends to send us to hard, dark and dry places.  Wherever we go because we carry the presence of the Lord with us, we transform those places into life giving places of springs.  Mike suggests there is no better image than what we are called to do as men.

Jeff notes this reminds him of Psalm 23.  With the presence of the Lord the psalmist has no fear.  The same for us as men today.

A lot of times the Lord sends us to places that we would not normally go.  He wants us to go through those places to bring light to them.  To make them better.

The place of Baca is a place of weeping a dry valley.  As we pass through those places, the Lord in us and through us.  Every time we pass through those places they are transformed.  By doing that we are transformed as well.

The most dangerous human on the plane is a free man.  A free man is comfortable in his own skin.  He is not afraid of anybody or any circumstance because his faith in the Lord.  He leads his family because he receives his orders from the Lord.

He is emotionally, socially, intellectually and spiritually equipped to pursue his dream.

The one secret that most men (Christian men or non-believers) are unaware of is that no man can be truly set free unless he is set free from the Lord, Jesus Christ.

Let’s be honest, how many men like this really exist.  Reason being, we have seen the biggest decline in what manhood really is in the last six decades.  One of the biggest contributors to this is the leftist social experiment to an attack on authority.  Just follow the publications of books and movies since then.  The book Iron John was a book to address this in the secular culture.

A talk about the movie, A Rebel Without a Cause.  How this movie depicts a man as someone who is weak.

The good news is that men can be healed.  The first step is to get in touch with the 4 truths of every man.  God comes in and heals us.

First truth:   Every man has a limitation of some kind.  Most men will never play professional sports, hold political office or command a naval submarine.  Even those men have limitations.

We have these limitations that we have learned from our family, culture, society, etc.

Some of these limitations we can change.  Knowing and accepting these limitations is essential to a man maturing.

Often times we put limitations on ourselves.

Self-acceptance is the foundational virtue for a man to becoming free.

Second truth:  Every man has a form of brokenness in some area of his life.

Our brokenness does not makes us bad.  It is simply reality.  The problem is when a man denies that brokenness.  Some men think that Being grounded in reality makes a man a true leader.  Romans 8:1-2.  Great point here.  Jeff says, it takes a lot courage to tell another man your strongholds, your failures, your blindspots, etc.

Third truth:  Every man has a bent in some sin area.  Some are passive others are controlling, some men struggle with pornography, greed, etc.

We are to courageously drag that sin into the light, acknowledge it, agree with the Lord about it so we can free from it.  Regardless if it is something small or a spiritual stronghold.

Fourth Truth:   Every man has a blind spot.  Those closest to us see it, but we do not.  We form judgments and acquisitions.  We don’t see the full picture.  Our point of view is skewed.  Here’s a quick and easy test to find out your blindspots.  Ask the three people you know best on three things you need go remove or improve on.

Here’s the good news.  No man can get well apart from a real relationship with the Lord Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit to get a hold of us and transform us.

Every one of these truths is countered by something the Lord does or gives us.

His grace covers our limitations.  His healing corrects our brokenness.  His forgiveness and power cancels our sins and delivers us from bondage.  His marvelous wisdom compensates for our blindspots.  That’s where there is hope for every man.  The Lord Jesus Christ can restore every single one of us.  We are molded back into the men we were meant to be.

When God created us, He created us whole not broken.

Every man can step out of the sin they are in right now and be set free for good.

Questions:

How much freedom do you want?

What specific changes can you make (worship, service, prayer, reading God’s Word, activities) so the Lord can set us free?

Will we do what it takes to accept the freedom that God wants to give everyone of us.

John 14:6 Follow the truth, Jesus Christ
