My name is Jeff Jerina.
I chat with Top Christian Leaders every week to Help YOU Succeed as a Man!
In 2001, I left the corporate world and began a career as an entrepreneur and Christian evangelist. Since then I’ve spoken at and led groups and events that help men grow deeper in their faith while equipping them in life.
After graduating from seminary and being ordained as a pastor I felt called to launch Men Unplugged as a daily source of wisdom for all men!
It wasn’t easy, but I believe God has called me to provide this resource center for men, namely the Men Unplugged Show.
To help you unplug from those things that weigh you down so that you can ignite your faith, strengthen your family and live your true purpose.
I will discuss different topics everyday of the week with inspiring Christan leaders to provide you with timely wisdom, practical tips, valuable resources (often times free) and encouragement to help you in every aspect of life!
Jeff delivers timely and impactful messages he gleans from his guests! Useful and actionable information every man can use in his life. A well produced podcast that’s just the right length. Great work!

Although I’m an evangelist and entrepreneur now, I wasn’t always. In fact, my life and career were completely different. Below is my story, including how I came up with the idea of Men Unplugged and why I envision Men Unplugged helping millions of men across the globe.
After getting my undergraduate degree…
Just like many teenagers after high school, I entered college not knowing what I wanted to do with my life. With this uncertainty, I decided to take the safe route and follow in my dad’s footsteps and get a business degree. After earning a business degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1994, I landed my first job.
I was hired by a former Fortune 500 company, Northern Telecom (known as Nortel Networks). Wow! I thought I hit the big time. I had business cards, an office, a new cell phone and a large salary. However, within six months of my new position, the wheels began to fall off.
I was driving home late one night…
It was about 3 am, and my car veered off the side of the road and was subsequently launched into the air. As the car landed on its left side, the driver side door busted through causing the left side of my body to drag on the hard concrete 50 to 100 feet. Luckily at the time, there was no one else on the road. In the same way, I was lucky (at least I thought) that my only injury was a severe road burn on my left hand.
The darkest time of my life…
Little did I know at the time, but that one scar on my hand would lead to severe depression for 4 years of my life. The enemy used that wound to make me think I wasn’t good enough, that I was an ugly duckling, and worst of all – that God didn’t love me. All I could do was obsess over that scar and other imperfections every second of my life during this time. Psychiatrists and counselors called it Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) a form of OCD. It didn’t matter what anti-depressant medications I was subscribed, the treatment I received, or how much alcohol I drank to numb the emotional pain I had. None of those things worked. Then without any hope left in sight, I heard something that literally saved my life.
Someone shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ…
I was sitting in a Christian counselor’s office and the counselor, Paul, asked me a question that I had never been asked before. “Jeff, do you know that when you die you would go to Heaven, or would you have doubts?” After thinking about that question for a bit, my response was simple – no, I don’t. I told him that I had done so many bad things in my life and that there was no amount of good that could ever make up for it. After he shared the Good News of Jesus Christ with me, I understood God’s grace for the first time and accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I was a new man. One who was freed and delivered from all the lies I was believing about myself. I now have the ultimate victory – life in Christ.
For a more detailed version of my testimony, watch my testimonial video in this section. Or purchase my published poem, A Prodigal’s Journey, which shares the story of a prodigal finding Christ. The prodigal, although it is written in a generic sense, is me.
A New Freedom and a New Mission
After I accepted Christ’s free gift of salvation, the counselor told me to start sharing my testimony with other men. Apprehensive at first, I finally agreed to his request. The most amazing thing happened. Every time I shared my testimony of how God literally saved and changed my life, other men (now brothers in Christ) experienced the same victory. With a new mission to see other men experience freedom in Jesus Christ, I started to seek other opportunities to lead men.
My experience in Men’s Ministry…
Shortly after placing my faith in Christ, I was asked to run a men’s basketball league. Watching the league grow from 20 to eventually 400 men, I realized what life mission was. The passion that God gave me was to reach men in such a way that they live as radical warriors for God. Since running that league, I have been blessed to start and lead men’s Bible studies, discipleship groups, speak at men’s retreats, and create fellowship events for men. Most recently, I co-founded and led a men’s ministry/community for dads at a private Christian school where my daughter attends and I coach tennis. The men’s ministry, called Patriot Dads provides opportunities for dads to get together in fellowship with one another and their kids as well as provide support to the school. With every men’s ministry that I’ve started there have been two core traits that every man needs to know 1) that he has value and 2) that he has a purpose.
My Ah-Ha Moment…
I realized what I was supposed to do during one of the basketball league nights I ran. With about 200 men in the gym one night, I knelt down in amazement as I watched several teams playing ball, men laughing, and other guys praying and studying the Bible together. As I looked at all of the faces, I heard that voice – the one where God says, “This is you man!” I knew this was what I was supposed to do – to ignite men for God!
My quest to find out how God wired me…
After trusting Christ as my Lord and Savior, I wanted to live a life of purpose. One that matched how God made me. With this new mission to reach the lost and equip men, I took personality tests, innate ability tests, and spiritual gifts tests, and I really dug down deep into what motivates and drives me. Refining my skills even further, I taught a class that helps others find out how God has designed them for ministry and vocational work. I discovered that I am best suited for a position in sales, teaching, pastor, or as an entrepreneur. Basically, a position where I can speak and influence others positively. With this new information and a desire to serve others, I enrolled and graduated with a Masters in Christian Ministry from Liberty Theological Seminary in 2016.
What about the Men Unplugged podcast?
In January 2017, I started to look at the idea of a podcast. To be perfectly honest, I didn’t know what a podcast was at the time. I kept hearing people talk about it, but I had never actually heard one. So I started to look around iTunes for a podcast for Christian men. I kept looking for one that provided information from different areas. Information that was relevant to men on all levels. I couldn’t find one. Although I couldn’t find a podcast like this, I had no intention of starting one. Especially since I knew nothing about audio. Not only that, but I was in the process of writing my evangelism training book, and my wife and I were getting ready to welcome our second child into the world. Then out of nowhere, a good buddy of mine, Mike Chrasta said, “Jeff, you need to start a radio show for men.” Okay that was weird, he didn’t even know I was researching podcasting. Regardless, I dismissed it because I genuinely thought this would be beyond my capacity. But then, within two to three months, other people told me the same thing. Okay, now the Lord had my attention. But what was it going to be about? What would it be called? So on and so forth…
The Fuel that Ignites Men Unplugged
The reason I think Men Unplugged works is because it is not just one person (that would be me) sharing his viewpoint. On the contrary, it is a combination of others – top influential leaders from every corner of the globe. With this extensive list of leaders comes a wealth of information and wisdom in your ear multiple times a week. Furthermore, the biblical wisdom that my guests provide and that we share online are invaluable. When you add the resources that we provide on the Resources page, I truly believe Men Unplugged will help you live fully charged.
